We sat in the front dining area, because I was with my 99 year old great grandfather and that’s where he chose to sit, although I would recommend sitting in their back room, which is spacious and cozy. If you are planning a private party, they have a big upstairs party room, and in the nice weather you can sit on their rooftop patio.
The nice thing about their menu, is that it’s all as local as they can get, and a lot of it is organic. It still really bugs me that they serve Heinz Ketchup, but if you ask, they have a great housemade ketchup to serve you. I believe that it’s pretty weird that a restaurant that promotes real food and local and organic could ever support a company like Heinz or corn syrup or GMOs.
Our meals were great, as usual. Be prepared to wait a little longer than usual for your food, so make sure you have good company with you! A highlight at the table was my dad’s Cobb Salad made up with Smoked chicken (organic), quinoa, butter lettuce, eweda cru cheese (sheep’s milk), and an organic soft boiled egg – it was presented very nicely and he really enjoyed it. They happen to have a housemade granola, and great veggies, but their menu is not very vegan accommodating. Their Eggs Benedict with smoked trout and their salads are great. The Wellington County Burger that I had was quite delicious – I like that they had topped it with cheese curds, rasher bacon, pepper relish and housemade pickles.
Overall, Globe Bistro is a great restaurant, but I really hope that they expand their menu to include healthier and more vegetarian and vegan options soon (and get that Heinz ketchup out!)
