This was my fourth year walking the aisles of the Canadian Health Food Association Show in Toronto. It’s one of my favourite days of the year (seriously). I was there for a total of almost 8 hours over 2 days, and read a lot of labels and talked to a lot of people, and ate lots of food and drank lots too.Sadly, I can’t get my own media badge until I’m 18, but I made my own to use until then (see picture).
The one thing that I notice is that even though it’s called a health food show, there is still lots of bad stuff around. I have learned how to read labels, so I keep a careful eye out for things that are good, and things that aren’t. My biggest rule is if you can’t pronounce the ingredient, then don’t buy the food (thanks mom), but I also never take or try products that contain soy or corn that is not organic, and there were so many. I wish there were better rules of what was called healthy.
Overall, the show was amazing, and I will be writing product reviews over the coming few months telling you my favourite packaged foods and what is good about them.
A little extra note: ONFC was by FAR the best distributor area at the show. Not only did they have some great products like, Way Better Chips, Rise Kombucha, RawFoodz and SeaSnax (kudos to them for being the BEST in my opinion), but the people were so much friendlier than anywhere else all over the show. And I mean, REALLY nice.
More to come, I can’t wait to tell you about all of my favourites!
