“Soupstock is a one-day culinary celebration on October 21 2012 that will feature tasty soups from more than 120 of Canada’s top chefs.”
A followup to last year’s Foodstock, Soupstock this year, will be held in the city, instead of up in the forest, so there is no excuse for you not to come! Roots has announced that they will be selling limited edition Soupstock t-shirts (on organic cotton!), I have one from Foodstock and it’s still looking great and comfy! Can you believe that 180 chefs are all going to be there with different soups? I wonder who will be in the restaurants in Toronto on Sunday!? If you check out the list, they have marked if they are vegetarian or vegan if you are looking for those specifically.
Some details, so you don’t miss it:
Where? Soupstock will be held in Woodbine Park, located in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood, near Queen Street East and Coxwell. See map below. And please note Woodbine Park is NOT near Woodbine Racetrack.
When? The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 21st 2012, rain or shine. (last year it was raining and freezing but it was beyond awesome!!)
What will be on site? There will be more than 180 chefs represented at soup stations throughout the park. Musical performers and speakers will be on stage and throughout the park throughout the day. There will also be information tables, community groups and a bicycle valet service.
The organizers are asking that we bring our own bowls, spoons and napkins. Smart, right? We don’t need to overflowing garbage cans, especially at an event trying to make our world a better place!
The event has free admission, but tickets are $10 for 3 different soups from one of the 180 chefs – how incredible is that? I’d like to try at least half of them, but pretty certain that won’t happen!
Let’s stop the Highland Mega-Quarry. It’s so bad for us and it’s going to poison our food and water and ruin acres of our land! See you there!!!
