Superfood Eateries

Superfood Eateries is a cute little spot on Adelaide Street West, near John Street, that is probably best accessed by bike, if you work in the area, or have taken TTC because there is not a lot of easy parking! Luckily, we got a spot one Saturday on our way to an event downtown at the Patagonia Store, and had the opportunity to try some real, organic superfood.

This little restaurant has a great sign outside on the sidewalk directing you to their upstairs, very white and clean location, explaining all of the reasons why you should eat there, and what they serve. It’s definitely more for take-out than eating in, but there are a few nice little tables with comfy stools to sit (see picture below). I was very lucky to have met Luciano, the owner, who happened to be there – he took the time to greet me with a warm smile and explain all he was trying to do, you can tell he’s really excited about it all. It’s so great that he such a commitment to organics and eating in a very clean way, it’s not often that you meet people like that!

We tried very few things, even though so much sounded great, so I will be back at some point to have a full meal. Here is what I ate with my thoughts:

1. Damn Good SuperFood Kale Chips: We make kale chips at home, so I’m very picky when it comes to other people’s kale chip creations, but these were pretty good, although I wish they had a little more dressing. But, you can’t go wrong with eating organic kale, especially when it’s coated and dehydrated with the goodness they are putting on them!

2. Flying High, a euphoric chocolate mint shake: A very good smoothie to go, and I really loved that it was all organic and in a glass bottle. You’ll really like all of the clever names of their drinks, they are very creative!

3. Instant Gratification, mood-elevating hemp balls: A perfect combination of organic medjool dates, cashews and hemp seeds that will really make you happy with each bite. Get more than one, since it really is instantly gratifying! I could eat these every, single day!

A big shout out to the whole Superfood Eateries Team for using biodegradable and compostable packaging – and even glass instead of plastic for their drinks.

You can check out their website and learn more about the superfoods they serve and that you’ll feel great eating!

PLEASE NOTE: As with most vegan restaurants, especially raw ones, if you have a nut allergy please refrain from going in as it’s nuts everywhere!
