Today is a very special day for my blog, it is the fifth birthday, or as I referred to it, my 1/20th of a century blogiversary! I would like to thank everyone here for their continued support in the five years I have been doing these reviews, and for accepting my favourite term to describe food – awesmazing!
In honour of my “blogiversary” today, I went to a bunch of different places to eat around Toronto, and photo-documented them.
1. Brickworks Farmers’ Market – Of course, this is my usual Saturday morning outing, and today I enjoyed a green smoothie and coconut-crusted french toast from Doug McNish, a Candy Cane Nanaimo Bar from LPK, some jaguar chocolate from Chocosol, and bought other stuff including our usual helping of Broccoli Microgreens from Kind Organics! I did get a bite of my brother’s Humble Bread Baguette – which was a big score!

2. The Big Carrot Juice Bar – A great place to grab a juice if you’re on the go, or shopping at their great store – be sure to check out their featured juices! I enjoyed a 16 ounce green juice packed with cucumber, spinach, parsley, apple, lemon and ginger, which is also my favourite combo to have at Belmonte Raw.

3. Tori’s Bakeshop – Since we were in the east end of Toronto, we went to an awesome bakery near the Beaches, with really kind people and awesmazing food! I picked up a jar of raw, vegan, organic coconut that tastes smoky like bacon, but is healthy and awesmazing on almost everything! I enjoyed sitting with my family and devouring a vegan, gluten-free cheese and chive “biscuit”, almost like a scone. I highly recommend their donuts too – as does my hard-to-please brother!

4. In House Dinner – Home is really my favourite place to eat. Be sure to look at my Instagram of my burrito! We love “Create-Your-Own” meals, because we can all be happy and eat a full rainbow of goodness, of our choice! Includes Vicki’s Veggies hot sauce, Kind Organics microgreens, Eden Foods aduki beans, Tori’s Bakeshop coconut ba”con”, Chef Bashir’s Harissa, Food for Life’s Ezekiel Shells, Noble Bean Tempeh, and a lot of organic vegetables, roasted and raw!
My last edibles for the big day will be homemade fudge sauce over Luna and Larry’s Coconut Bliss Ice Cream in front of a live-streaming Phish concert with a glass of bubbly Rise Kombucha.
I know how lucky I am, and this has really been a great day!
Welcome to year 6 of Ry’s Ratings! As always, let me know good places and food that you’d like me to try to review!
