The Good Press

The Good Press is a brand new, cute little juice bar just down the street from the Whole Foods in Yorkville. I have been very excited for them to open for a while now, ever since the owners of Sunshine Market started posting on instagram and twitter proclaiming that they were opening an all-organic juice bar in Yorkville. The location is a little hard to find because it is below street level, but it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for their silver coloured “The Good Press” lettering on the south side of Yorkville Avenue, just west of Bellair.

I shouldn’t really refer to it as a juice bar since they serve SO much more than juice, including my mom’s favourite, Acai Bowls (pronounced a-sa-ee) with housemade granola, tons of freshly made organic smoothies and of course, a wide range of cold-pressed juices to grab and go from their fridge AND made-to-order juices, which means everyone will be happy here! There are also organic snacks along the wall (I presume that they are popular picks from their other business on College Street) and they have a fridge ready to be stocked with salads, too.

My favourite juice (so far) is their Lean Green, which is a refreshing and light blend of greens, including cucumber, celery, apple and lemon. My brother couldn’t get enough of his Blue Hawaii smoothie which included blueberries, pineapple, and apple, although he pretty much drinks anything and everything from beet to kale to citrus to carrots! Everyone else I’ve gone here with have enjoyed various picks from their huge, brightly coloured menu of bright coloured drinks and superfoods!

One of the owners, Andrew, has a nut allergy, and he told us with confidence that my sister who is also allergic to nuts, could order anything she wants, except, of course, the nut milk. My family has known Andrew and his wife Leila for years, since they used to make juice for us every Saturday at Brickworks Farmers’ Market. They are crazy nice people who care a lot about what they eat, and what we do, too.

I hope The Good Press becomes very busy and that they do really well, because that means lots of people are going for organic, healthy drinks and food. I will definitely be back for their popsicles this summer that they say are coming soon – I think you should too!

I guess it’s time to update my Top Juice Bars list again!

I’m very excited for these to arrive! I wonder what flavours will be first!

Their really cool menu is hand-drawn, and has SO many selections. It might take you a while to decide what to have!

They also have a grab and go fridge with pre-prepared, cold-pressed juices that vary each day! And they are served in returnable/reusable glass bottles!

While they make your drink, you can sit on their funky ottoman by the window!

They have a full open kitchen with their organic fruits and vegetables in baskets on the walls! Amazing!

My brother loved his Blue Hawaii smoothie!

If you go, this is what you are looking out for (minus my brother and I!) – it’s below street level, so don’t miss it!
