Kreation Kafe

[This post is part of a series of reviews from my Winter 2014/15 trip to California]

We rode our bikes from Santa Monica along the waterfront to Venice Beach and then to Abbot Kinney, where fortunately, right after our group of 10 walked up and down the strip, visiting the cute boutiques, Roots Canada included (happy to see that slice of Canada there!), we took shelter from the rain at Kreation Kafe. We had already stopped there right after parking our bikes for juice and smoothies – they have tons of pre-made juices, all 100% organic and very proud of their processes, but the coolest part about Kreation was their juice bar! I know, you are thinking what could be exciting about a juice bar in this day and age when they are everywhere? Kreation has a bar that looks like a salad bar, except everything that you put into your colander gets juiced right there in front of you! Of course, my brother was first to overload his colander, and finish his juice before some of us even made our selections!

I had a refreshing apple, lemon and ginger juice, followed by a delicious green juice packed with romaine, cucumber, apple, mint, fennel, lemon and ginger for a perfect boost, it was one of the best green juices that I had had in a long time!

Although Kreation has juice bars in many locations, and even a juice truck, their Abbot Kinney location is a full “kafe”. So, in addition to the juice and smoothie bar, they have a full 100% organic menu. They say on their wall that it’s NOT just an effort to be organic as much as possible, but a full commitment to being 100% organic, always. That’s incredible, don’t you think? And the best part, they had a covered large patio to shelter us from the rain, patio heaters to warm us up (it was not warm when we were there!) and a team working there that was more than happy to accommodate our party of 10 with severe allergies and varied eating preferences.

You will see in the pictures some of our dishes, and the size of their menu, but please know that kids and adults alike will enjoy this hot spot! Enjoy!

The kid who drinks and eats more than anyone in the family. Also the smallest one.

My sister making her juice from the salad bar-like buffet. Isn’t this a great idea??

My brother starting to pile everything but the kitchen sink into his juice.

Appetizer plate – cold tapas. I don’t like eggplant normally, but this smokey eggplant dip was great, as were the other dips/salads!

My friend Mason had a bit of a sore throat, and he was brave enough to do a shot of lemon juice, oregano oil, ginger, garlic, himalyan salt, and alkaline water. Kreation calls it their antibiotic shot, and Mason actually enjoyed it, plus he seemed to be feeling better the next day, so I would call it a success!

My brother, Andy, inhaled this HUGE Acai Bowl after he had a 16 ounce juice that he created, packed with carrots, beets, greens and berries.

Eating a rainbow at every meal is easy here – just look at their menu!
