Falafel World is owned by a Lebanese family and serves traditional Middle Eastern fare in their small, casual space with counter service near Jane and Bloor. Although they do not use all organic ingredients, they make everything fresh, in-house, and local whenever in season.
My mother had learned about this spot from someone on Instagram who eats very healthy and highly recommended it, so we had to try it out. I haven’t been since this one time in the late summer 2016, but look forward to going back. I’m just finally trying to catch up on some reviews, as I have been very busy and focused on school and a few events like Live the Smart Way and Patagonia Market Days!
When I first took a look at the menu at Falafel World (which is just up on a big board above the counter), I decided what to order almost immediately. I got the veggie falafel pita, which includes two large falafels, tahini, their homemade hot sauce, and chopped salad with tomato. My brother got the same thing with no hot sauce, while my mom and sister opted for the falafel plate, which included the same ingredients with the addition of hummus and is eaten like a salad, not in a pita. We all sat down and enjoyed our food immensely, it was delicious with the best combination of flavours – after a few quick minutes, I had already finished my wrap of deliciousness! While my family ate, I ordered another one – it was that good! This time, I got hummus in addition to the rest of the ingredients and devoured it as well.
After we ate, we thanked the super-nice owner who had taken our orders and put together our pitas and plates, and went on our way to Dufferin Grove Farmers’ Market – as you can probably imagine, I didn’t eat that much there and we shopped for the best produce and products of the season. 🙂 It was a good food afternoon, and now that it’s cold and December, I long for long sunshine filled days and spending all of that time outdoors, out of school! Luckily, Falafel World is open all year, and since writing this review now, I am going to make an effort to get back there soon, in the summer, it makes for great takeout for a picnic!
