Grown by organic farmers in Canada and then made by them into crunchy, salty snacks? Sign me up!

If you haven’t tried crunchy peas before, they are awesmazing. With all of the satisfaction of a salty snack, they are also packed with healthy nutrients, you can check out the details on their website. They are easy to carry around, and I often do since eating out or on the go isn’t always easy. My mother usually has a bag in her purse, and my little brother usually eats them all – he is always hungry it seems and crunchy chickpeas are satisfyingly filling and delicious.

Zak Organics was founded by a family based in Saskatchewan that has a commitment to organic farming and “leaving their land better than they found it.” They began the quest for the perfect snack that they could make with the organic foods they grew, and then stumbled upon green peas as their ideal ingredient. Their Crunchy Peas are available in four flavours: Smokey BBQ, Herbs and Spices, and Sea Salt and Lime and a sweet Cocoa one (I have not tried the chocolate one yet, but intend to) with more flavours on the way later this year according to their website.

We did a taste-test of sorts at our house with the 3 savoury flavours. The first flavour we tried was the Smokey BBQ, which ended up being my favourite (I am a huge fan of the smokey flavour!). My sister, who doesn’t normally like BBQ even liked them!

Next up were the Herbs and Spices. A classic flavour, this one was favoured by all of us, and my little brother’s favourite by far. The garden taste blended perfectly with the sharp spices to create a delicious sensation.

Finally, the Sea Salt and Lime, arguably the most “plain” of the three, was good, but not our first choice. They are really good in salads as croutons!

Although there are many crunchy peas and chickpeas on the market, and more coming every day, these are organic, delicious and my current favourites in Canada!

Look for their great packaging in stores or order online if you can’t find them!
