Did you attend the 33rd Annual Veg Food Fest at Harbourfront this weekend? If so, I would love to know what you enjoyed, and, if not, I would urge you to try some of the products, brands, and places I have featured in the pictures below.
I got out of school early on Friday (don’t worry, I didn’t skip class), and made my way with a friend and my mother down to Harbourfront to get an early look at what was being featured and served. After walking around and saying hi to the many familiar and friendly faces, I went to Doug McNish’s booth and subsequently ate an order of his Buffalo Seitan wings, one of his tacos, and an order of Polenta Poutine (at the top of my favourite Veg Fest dishes list for the third year in a row). After numerous Sweets From The Earth desserts (ones that were exclusively available this weekend), and a Cruffin from Tori’s Bakeshop (see my review here), I was definitely full. I did try a few bites that others I was with at the event were enjoying plus a ginger Tonica Kombucha, which is always refreshing and settles a full stomach.
Aside from the crazy amount of food I ate, there were the usual group of amazing brands – most returning, but a couple of new and exciting ones, including Chocosol, Tonica Kombucha, Yoso, Bunner’s, Hibiscus Café (specifically their mung bean ice cream), Lemon Lily Tea (and their new collaboration with Vibe Kombucha), Nud Fud, Bio Raw salads, Michelle’s Rawfoodz, Organic Garage, Hungry Buddha, and Giddy Yoyo, to name a few.
I hope you enjoy my small photo gallery and the items showcased – but there’s much more to try around Toronto all year around than what I featured from the Fest! I urge you to join and support the Toronto Vegetarian Association – their work is amazing, and they promote great food all over the city.
